In The Hoop Quilted Panel with 3 Halloween Applique designs. Machine embroidery design set for 5×7, 6×10, 8×11 and 9×12 hoops.

This is a very useful ITH design set which includes the making of a quilted panel, that is then used as the ‘fabric’ for 3 different Halloween applique patterns; a bat, cat and pumpkin. Both the quilted panel and the appliques, each come in the following sizes: 5×7, 6×10, 8×11 and 9×12.

Although the quilted fabric panel and the Halloween outline, both come in 4 different sizes, there is no reason why you couldn’t sew out the biggest fabric panel hoop that your machine can take. Then, use one of the Halloween appliques in hoop 2, from a smaller hoop size, and position the quilted panel ‘fabric’, so that you are able to use the remnants again, on a second or even third smaller applique hooping. I was able to sew out four 5×7 cats, using the 9×12 quilted panel hoop.

The design would work equally well, using the same size hoopings, for both hoop 1 and hoop 2. The choice is yours, but you must make hoop 1, BEFORE you make hoop 2!

The applique is finished off with a lovely neat satin stitch. It is quite wide and dense – necessary to accommodate the numerous layers of quilted fabric in the applique. Therefore, this is the ideal project for putting the appliques onto trick or treat bags. I used a burlap tote bag that had a PE film internal laminate coating. It was sturdy enough to accommodate the design, and ideal for keeping safe those tasty halloween treats.

I have to admit, the bags are probably the smartest trick or treat bags I have ever come across!
