This is a gorgeous in the hoop (ITH) machine embroidery project completed in two 7.9×11 hoopings.
Hoop 1 makes the outer panel of the pencil roll. Hoop 2 makes the inner part of the pencil roll – and also attaches the outer panel to the inner panel.
The pencil roll is hand sewn closed once turned through, although this can be achieved by doing a top stitch with a machine, all around the roll case.

This is a lovely pencil roll pattern, and makes a wonderful gift for both young and old. The quilted fabrics on the outer panel of the design, the border edging, and the stipple stitching on the inner panel, give a real sense of quality to the roll case. Show off your fabric scraps, mix and match those fat quarters and jelly roll strips – no two pencil rolls will be the same.

Hoop 1 = 181.6 x 269.9 mm. = 4,156 stitches
Hoop 2 = 185.3 x 277.7 mm = 8,954 stitches
